Glass Falls

The falls is a two-part sculpture, the first consisting of two granite walls to be built by Medco, the second a five foot span with twelve structural cast glass panels ‘floating’ in between the granite walls. The water in the center will be moving more rapidly than that on either side.
The twelve panels will be mounted horizontally to the sides of the granite walls with custom designed stainless steel ‘brackets’. No ‘framework’ will be necessary. The result will be a light, airy and colorful center section grounded by the dark walls to either side.
The sculptural element consists of 12 flat 4” thick panels, 5’ long and ranging from 21” wide at the top to 36” wide at the bottom, creating a ‘waterfall’ effect.
Each 4” panel is cut at a slant, yielding a surface ‘face’ of 4.65 inches. The panels start 6.16” from the base of the walls, with a space of 6.16” between each. The panels stop 10” below the top of the 11’ granite walls.
The color on the face of each cast glass panel is to be determined.
