Lovie's Garden Entry Disc

A glass and basalt disc embedded in the landscape at the entrance to the Baylor garden. The disc is 8' in diameter. The outer perimeter is a banding of granite slab 1 ½" think and 12" wide. The interior is cast glass laminated to tempered float glass. The castings will be clear iridized, pearlescent sheet of glass with swirls of color. The glass surface will have a soft textural quality, making it safe for foot traffic. The glass will sit on a bedding of resilient Mylar padding around the perimeter of the basin.

The entire disc object is recessed into the existing landscape grade. Only the top surfaces of the granite and the glass will be visible.

A custom lighting will be installed within the disc and under the glass. A circular drain surrounding the disc will be installed; providing a means to collect and remove any excess water.
